Tip of the Week

Gearing up for flowerpots this season

Flowerpots offer us accents that can soften hardscapes while enhancing existing flower beds and gardens. They are a good opportunity to tie in existing colors and textures. You can bring your garden into your patio or outdoor kitchen space.

Pots or planters are also a way to enhance entryways, creating a more welcoming experience and a clever way to hide unsightly equipment such as a/c units, compost bins, or dead zones in the garden.

What is the key to impactful flowerpots?

One of the main components of good composition is scale. Look at the size of your flowerpot and then think about the rule of thirds. the container should be 1/3 the height of the floral display. Verticality is key, utilize your space.

Another factor is texture. There are so many different textures to experiment with, allow yourself to be creative.

Pots and planters allow us the space we need to experiment with creations and concepts on a seasonal basis, while still contributing to our gardens.
